Lebanon Deployment Trip – September 2025
On our latest volunteer deployment to Lebanon, our team delivered 500 boxes of food and hygiene supplies and helped 14 more families to return to Syria.
Delivering essentials for refugees
Lebanon is home to about 2 million refugees. Our deployment team travelled around some of its camps, spending time with 15 special families, refurbishing tents, and delivering winter fuel, blankets, and hefty food parcels. In all, they distributed:
- 400 food parcels (producing around 300 meals each)
- 100 hygiene kits to prevent disease
- Furniture and bedding for 22 tents
Fun days for children
We set up another ‘Wishes Room’ for a local orphanage. Our team had arranged it with the guardians in advance. We invited 16 vulnerable children along to have their wishes granted! They all received presents like clothing or bicycles.
There’s not much rest on our deployment trips. On another day, our volunteers helped out at the opening of a school supported by Salam Charity. More than 100 children attended. We gave out backpacks filled with SC t-shirts and stationery, and organised activities including planting seedlings, painting school walls, and community games. Our volunteers enjoyed the parachute games and storytelling as much as the kids did!
Syrian refugees on the emotional journey home
In June, our teams helped Syrian refugees to finally return and start rebuilding their homes. This September, the latest deployment group was able to help 14 more families return from Lebanon to Syria.
At their destination in Syria, we provided support to refurbish empty homes. For those whose homes had been completely destroyed, we supplied strong, durable tents. We will be back to support further renovation and help the communities in the process of rebuilding.
Supporting livelihoods
Many of the people we meet on deployment are highly motivated to become independent and stop relying on handouts. So we have started to provide cash assistance to people with small businesses or livelihood expenses. On this trip, we identified and funded 7 livelihood projects. They ranged from providing sewing machines to refurbishing small shops.
Funds raised by the volunteers on this trip have been used to continue running our landmark Shifa Clinic in Shebaa, delivering vital medical care for vulnerable people.
What’s it like as a Salam Charity volunteer?
Aleesha Rana travelled with us to Lebanon. Here’s what she shared about the experience:
“As a volunteer, I felt genuinely valued and supported throughout the entire journey. The Salam Charity team were exceptionally well organised, informative, and attentive to every detail. They provided reflection sessions that allowed us to process our emotions and experiences in a safe space.
“They also went above and beyond for volunteers by adding thoughtful personal touches such as certificates and personalised keepsakes. Their compassion, professionalism and continued support (even after deployment) truly set them apart. Salam Charity’s generosity and open-door approach foster an atmosphere of kindness and purpose that stays with you long after the trip ends.
“I was proud to represent Salam Charity and will continue my volunteering and humanitarian work with them in the future.”
