My name is Yusuf. Growing up, I watched hundreds of adverts that showed children walking miles to collect water. Not to get an education or to play with their friends, but to receive a necessity that we take for granted. On top of that, the water was dirty and far from being safe for consumption.

Those adverts made their mark on me.

The Prophet ﷺ said that the best charity is giving water. Not just because it quenches thirst, but because its reward flows continuously, like the water itself. Every sip a child takes, every illness prevented, every prayer made with clean wudu. That reward comes back to you, again and again, long after you are gone.

This is Sadaqah Jariyah in its purest form.

Sarah and I are raising funds with Salam this Ramadan because we believe no child should choose between thirst and survival. A single donation can provide clean water to an entire family for years. Imagine your name attached to that. To every cup of water, every saved life, every du’a made by a mother who no longer fears for her children.

You do not need to travel to make a difference. You just need to give.

The Prophet ﷺ also reminded us that even a smile is charity, but water is life. It is the foundation of every living thing, and when you give it, you give something that keeps on giving long after this world is done with us.
