URGENT: HELP THE FLOOD VICTIMS IN BANGLADESH
July 2026: Large parts of Bangladesh have been devastated by flooding, with over a million forced to leave their homes.
Cox’s Bazaar has been hardest hit. It’s home to the biggest refugee settlement in the world, with over a million people living in high-risk conditions.
On 8 July, a landslide buried an Islamic primary school in Cox’s Bazaar and killed at least 8 children; since then, 51 people in Cox’s Bazaar and Dhaka have died. Thousands have been evacuated by authorities, who say the floods have affected at least a million people.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
People in Bangladesh have lost farming land as well as their homes. This state of emergency could continue for several months, with hundreds of thousands struggling to survive.
£60 pays for a kit containing disinfectant, wipes, drinking water and more to help people protect their health and care for their families.
£60 pays for a bulk box of groceries like rice, oil, onions, potatoes and lentils to feed a family of 4-5 for about a month.

OUR PREVIOUS WORK IN BANGLADESH
Salam Charity has several ongoing projects in Bangladesh, where we are working hard to give people the means to escape from poverty.
Our initiatives include the Impact Vocational Training Centre, which provides free courses and career advice for young people. We are funding courses in Mobile Repairs, Graphic Design and Tailoring: practical skills which are in demand in the jobs market.
We’re also renovating schools in slum areas through a project called Dream Schools. So far we have funded renovation, equipment and stationery for 31 schools, enabling them to open their doors to children who have been locked out of education.
CASE STUDY: EMERGENCY AID FOR BANGLADESH
In 2024, half a million people were made homeless after heavy rains caused river banks to break and flood Feni, Cumilla, Laxipur and other regions of eastern Bangladesh.
Our local team delivered bulk boxes of essential supplies – including groceries and drinking water – to 950 families in Sylhet, and served 500 hot meals in a remote area outside Moulvibazar. Some people told our team that they hadn’t been able to get clean water for a week.
