RAMADAN 2026

Aid for Ramadan 2026

During the holy month of Ramadan, our hardworking teams delivered an incredible 88,700 iftars, installed 16 water wells, and opened two brand new mosques!

Breaking fast with friends and family

In Uganda, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, our donor-sponsored iftars were served to large community groups. Our volunteer teams set up and served nutritious, two-course feasts, creating a celebratory atmosphere at the break of each day in Ramadan. Meanwhile, Palestinian iftars were hand-delivered to people’s doorsteps so that they could share meals in small family groups.

We also gave out hundreds of food packs, which are stuffed with ingredients to make up to 300 meals each. In Syria, that meant travelling miles between homes in the most rural locations.

Throughout Ramadan, your donations enabled us to distribute:

  • 402 food parcels (producing around 300 meals each)
  • 887 iftars (serving around 1,000 people each)
  • 102 emergency food packs in Syria (delivered in hard-to-reach mountain areas)
  • More than £17,000 in cash (for wounded and stranded people)
  • 6 livelihood support packages (e.g. goats and carts, helping people generate their own income)
  • 74 tarpaulins
  • 100 blankets
  • 100 hygiene kits

Mosques to honour loved ones

Mosques are essential parts of our community infrastructure. It’s easy for us to take them for granted, but in vulnerable communities, the opening of a new mosque is cause for great celebration.

This year we opened two new mosques in Uganda.

The first was built in honour of Saad’s father, Hussain. Masjid Al-Hussain is a fully furnished mosque with a prayer hall and facilities that will be used for children’s learning and community meetings. Saad visited the mosque for the official opening.

“I was very happy to see how happy these people are, and how they’re benefiting … all I can say is Alhamdulilah. For every ayah that’s going to be read, every salah that’s going to be read, everyone who’s going to be making wudu, everyone who donated, everyone who shared the link. This is not about me, it’s not about my father – this is about these people here who need this.”

Meeting medical costs

In countries with a strained health infrastructure, medical costs can be prohibitive. Many families simply can’t afford them, leaving adults and children without essential and urgent treatments.

On our deployments we have a health fund that enables us to cover medical costs for those people. This year, it supported 18 people in Egypt and 5 in Syria. One was Dhuha, a widow with a disabled son who desperately needed spinal disc surgery to restore her mobility.

Because we work so closely with communities on the ground, you can be sure that your donations to our health appeal are carefully and effectively spent.

Clean water for a community

In Harasta, Eastern Ghouta, our team learned of a well that required restoration. Salam Charity funded the repairs so that this well could be reopened for the community of 20,000 people who depend on it.

But that’s just one of 16 water wells that we installed or renovated this spring. Clean water is the foundation of health, making wells incredibly important to communities around the world.

We installed 10 deep water wells in Uganda, 2 in Ghana, 2 in Pakistan, and 2 electric boreholes in Bangladesh, increasing reliability and reducing the risk of disease. The wells are used for drinking and washing, but they’re also important for animal care and agriculture.

Celebrating Ramadan with children and families

Not every child celebrates Ramadan with new clothes and sweets. So we brought the celebrations to a Lebanese orphanage during our deployment this month, arranging a fun day with gifts, sweets, and haircuts for 60 children. We also took 50 children shopping for new clothes, while their mothers and female carers enjoyed craft activities and a well-earned break.

Meanwhile, in Syria, Salam Charity is funding a new school for an area that currently has none. The school in Kafr Nabl, Idlib, will accommodate 1,450 pupils when it opens. We were hoping for a Ramadan opening date, but it’s almost ready.
