SHELTER FOR GAZA

Help us bring shelter and safety to war-torn Gaza. Salam Charity is supporting a mammoth village-building project in the central Gaza strip.

Celebrating peace in Gaza

When the ceasefire was agreed, our local teams went into communities to share baklava and celebrate together. The streets were vibrant with music and dancing as families and kids expressed their relief.

After years of living with daily attacks and the threat of evacuation, it’s time for Gazan families to rebuild their lives and communities.

Rebuilding from the rubble

Since October 2023, the relentless attacks in Gaza have destroyed electricity, water and communication networks – as well as wiping out shops, hospitals and health centres.

Many neighbourhoods were reduced to rubble, and almost 300,000 homes have been destroyed.

All of this means that rebuilding communities will take time. Help us to get started today. As part of a collaboration between local and international aid organisations, Salam Charity will be helping to build a new village for some of the displaced people in Gaza.

The home that hope builds

Plans have been drawn up for a village of 600 temporary shelter units with solar panels, running water and hygiene facilities. There’s even an on-site hospital in the works.

These temporary units are similar to static caravans. Each one has 2 or 3 bedrooms, a separate kitchen and bathroom, providing safe and clean accommodation for a family of 4–6 people. The caravans will have electric sockets and lighting, and bathrooms fitted with showers.

The plans are to import and build 600+ of these shelter units at a cost of around $2,000–$3,000 each. We want to fund a large housing area in the village, but we need your help to do that.

Raise funds to build homes

Over the next few months, we want to raise as much as possible for this ambitious project. So join us on a challenge, host your own fundraiser, or set up a donation and help us give Gazan families the keys to safe, cosy homes this winter.
