BACK FROM EGYPT

Deployment report from Egypt

November 2025: Our volunteers are just back from Egypt, where they helped to deliver emergency aid to some of the 1 million refugees hosted in the country.

Refugee numbers are soaring

Egypt has provided refuge for more than a million people from Sudan, Palestine and Syria, but funding levels have dropped, and aid is urgently needed.

“With every passing day, the needs of these refugees grow. No one can afford for this to become another forgotten emergency.”
Dr Hanan Hamdan, UNHCR

Delivering the essentials

Thanks to the funds raised by our volunteers, we were able to take aid out to Egypt with us. We distributed:

  • 190 food packs (each feeding a family for a month)
  • 109 cash grants
  • 100 winter blankets

Funding emergency medical treatment

Our volunteers have access to an emergency medical fund which they can give out on the spot. On this trip, we met five families who told us they needed treatment or operations that they couldn’t afford.

We provided them with financial aid to cover their medical expenses. We met another nine families who were struggling to pay for essentials like bills and food, and we gifted them with cash to provide relief.

An orphan fun day

Our team arranged and ran a fun day for 100 orphaned children. The kids received toys, sweets and refreshments, and played games with our helpers.

We also provided cash assistance to their guardians.

Supporting sustainable incomes

How can we help people to regain their independence and stop needing aid? This time around, we met people involved in two small ventures: a women’s handicraft cooperative and a hairdressing service.

We were able to give them financial support to help them to improve and continue running their work.

Volunteer on the next trip

You don’t need any experience to join our team – just the motivation to raise funds and willing arms to carry aid!

We’ll return to Egypt in April and October next year. If you’d like to join one of these deployments, or travel with us to another country, check out all the details here:
